Becoming Burned-out

By Chris Christiansson 2009-03-24

Becoming burned-out and experiencing chronic fatigue, exhaustion or tiredness occurs for many reasons and there are several ways to overcome and cure these symptoms. It is unprofessional and difficult to generalize the causes.

During the Vivamea program, we conduct various assessments and interviews to determine each participant's individual health-dynamic state.

The most important in the prevention of fatigue and burnout is to constantly assess your health-dynamic state and practice self-regulating techniques adjusted to your present needs. It is also one of the most difficult life skills.

Sometimes you probably feel that there is something missing in your personal, private and professional life. However, you are so caught up with other demands that you have no time to solve the small inconveniences in your life. This drains energy from your resources and, in the long term, can create fatigue and lead to burnout.

If you recognize the pattern (the Vivamea program can help you to assess and find the right practical tools), self-regulating techniques can help you become more enthusiastic about regularly controlling your general lifestyle and taking time for refueling to prevent fatigue and burnout.

The following general solution will pay off immediately and you will enjoy a longer, active and more dynamic life:

If you often wake up feeling tired, as if you need another four hours sleep, a walk and relaxation training before going to bed can be a good solution.

What you eat is often based on how you feel.Lots of fatty foods, sweets, or over-eating can be part of tiredness, boredom, excess stress, compensation for life pressures, poor self-image, etc. Challenge your eating patterns to include healthy and more energetic foods with mental control and spirit to manage a dynamic lifestyle.

Excessive intake of caffeine, alcohol and/or tranquillizers can be a first sign of fatigue and burnout. Make a quick lifestyle change before it becomes a normal pattern. Plan time for exercises and refueling of energy on a daily basis

Take a look at yourself in the mirror every day.Do you like what you see? If not, become the person you want to see. Stop finding excuses, face the truth.

If you can't handle it, discuss it with your coach.

Job Burnout Checklist

You are a candidate for job burnout if work/life stress, combined with your personality pattern, can create negative behavioral physiology reactions and feelings. Usually work/life burnout is not only job related, but is also due to the intensifying stress load over an extended length of time. Energy, a positive approach, working enthusiasm and ambition have dissolved into the frustration of unmet expectations, lack of energy and living life in a fast endless cycle - with no way out.

Check those symptoms that apply to you and click the score-box, to get your result.

Les Bains de Saillon

By Patrick Henry

The thermal baths of Saillon, in the heart of a Wallis wine town,  right next to a small medieval village of the same name, this thermal spa is a bucolic haven for a charming get away.

An indoor thermal pool, 3 outsides pools and a semi-Olympic one for swimming; a fitness center, a wellness center “Carpe Diem” with vapor baths, saunas, one outside sauna, and a beauty spa are all a part of the services offered by the complex.
